Last visited: January 27, 2017 After many hours of research, and plenty of loaves of gluten free bread baked, I’ve come to believe that the Hamilton Beach HomeBaker is the best breadmaker for gluten free bread.
The Hamilton Beach HomeBaker is also one of the most useful budget kitchen appliances you can own, because the HomeBaker makes it easy for you to create tons of healthy gluten free foods in a matter of hours.
Even though I own an amazing rice cooker, and a freakin’ Vitamix blender – I have to say that owning a gluten free bread machine has been the most life-changing appliance of all.
Half because I never thought I could bake my own healthy gluten-free bread. And, half because I never knew I could save tons of money in the process.

Hamilton Beach HomeBaker Benefits
The Hamilton Beach HomeBaker is a powerful, budget-savvy bread machine that’s really easy to use.
More specifically, these are the exact benefits you’ll receive if you decide to get a HomeBaker for yourself:
Benefit 1. Gluten free bread setting
The major highlight of the Hamilton Beach HomeBaker is that it contains a gluten-free setting for making delicious gluten free bread.
Just add your ingredients, set your cycle to option #3 (the gluten-free bread making cycle), decide whether you want to bake a 1.5lb. or 2lb. loaf, and voila.
Hit the start button, and your gluten-free bread will be ready in about three and a half hours.
Benefit 2. Save tons of money
Before buying a gluten free bread maker, I would spend at least $30 a month on bread alone.
Loaves of Ezekial Gluten Free Brown Rice Bread retail for about $6 in my area. So, it should be easy to see why I needed to figure out how to bake gluten free bread as soon as possible.
If you eat gluten free bread the same way I do, then you could save at least $360 a year by purchasing a solid gluten free bread machine.
That’s enough cash for a mini weekend vacation in the city nearest you. So, save that money, and buy a good bread machine instead.
Benefit 3. Crazy simple to operate and clean
The HomeBaker is one of the most convenient and simple kitchen appliances I’ve ever used.
You simply add your ingredients, select your preferred bake cycle, choose a loaf size and style of crust (light, medium, dark) – then hit the start button.
I don’t know how this bread machine could be any simpler.
I also enjoy that it’s incredibly easy to clean. There’s just one removable pale that you pour ingredients into. Once you remove that pale from the bread machine, you can rinse it with warm soapy water, dry it, and you’re good to bake again.
Benefit 4. The HomeBaker includes options for making cake and jam
Who knew a gluten free bread machine would be ideal for baking cake and making jam?
Yes, you can make real fruit jam in your HomeBaker.
Apparently, the HomeBaker bread machine can create ideal conditions for making fruit jam using strawberries, raspberries, blueberries etc.
So, this is another way that you’ll be able to save money on yet another household food product.
Benefit 5. Delayed start timer
One of the coolest features of the HomeBaker is that it includes a delayed start timer.
This basically means that you can add all of your ingredients to the HomeBaker, and then set up a delayed start timer so that your bread won’t start baking until a certain amount of time has passed.
For example, you can prep your gluten free ingredients inside of the HomeBaker, and then set the delay start timer so that your bread automatically starts baking at 5:00 a.m. the next morning.
This can be really useful if you like waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning (along with your coffee).
Just make sure that you don’t use the delay setting when you’ll be using dairy ingredients like milk, butter or cheese. You obviously don’t want to leave dairy products inside of your bread machine for an extended amount of time, since that could mean trouble.
Benefit 6. Quality gluten free bread
The most important benefit is the fact that the HomeBaker makes quality gluten free bread.
This is the end-result that you’re most likely searching for, right?
Well, if you commit to using quality ingredients like Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Homemade Wonderful Bread Mix (my personal favorite), and Red Star Bread Machine Yeast (don’t forget to refrigerate after opening) – you’ll most likely end up with some amazing gluten free bread.
Just follow the recipes and instruction booklet that comes with your HomeBaker machine, and baking quality gluten free bread will seem practically foolproof (perfect for me).
Hamilton Beach HomeBaker Negatives
While the Hamilton Beach HomeBaker is a world-class bread making machine, it isn’t perfect by any means.
There are a few minor annoyances that you might want to know about before buying this bread maker.
Here are the HomeBaker’s downsides that you should know about:
Negative 1. Bread machine paddle occasionally gets stuck after baking
This is only a minor inconvenience. But, it’s worth mentioning as the only significant negative of the HomeBaker that I’ve personally experienced.
After baking with the HomeBaker, many people complain that the paddle (kneading blade) gets stuck in the bottom of the loaf of bread.
I actually have the opposite problem with my machine. My kneading blade frequently gets stuck to the bottom of the pale (where you add the ingredients) after I bake with the machine.
Again, this isn’t really a huge issue, since the paddle usually comes loose after 5-10 minutes of soaking in warm water.
It’s just a minor inconvenience that I’d rather not deal with.
Negative 2. Bread baked with the HomeBaker can occasionally be challenging to slice thin
You know how most people like to eat a relatively thin ‘sandwich slice’ of bread?
I have a really difficult time slicing bread that I bake to where the slices are ultra-thin.
I’m not exactly sure why this is.
Update: After some extensive practice, I’ve learned how to slice bread thin. It just comes down to practice, practice and more practice. Having the right tools (like a great knife) can help, too. But I truly think that experience trumps all when it comes to getting razor-thin slices of gluten free bread.
The Best Breadmaker for Gluten Free Bread Final Thoughts (Hamilton Beach HomeBaker Review Conclusion)

This is a budget bread machine with a gluten free setting that makes it extremely easy to bake delicious bread.
What more can you ask for?
